Honeymoon Must-Do Experiences: 12 Moments Every Couple Deserves

Riva speedboats, glacier helicopters, sandbank dinners, vow-renewals under lemon trees — the twelve experiences worth planning a whole honeymoon around.

The Vacations Pro Desk·Feb 2026

Twenty years of planning honeymoons — nearly two thousand of them — has taught us this: the trips couples remember hardest are not defined by their hotels. They are defined by the two or three deeply personal experiences designed for them and them alone. Below are the twelve we recommend planning any honeymoon around. Pick three, not twelve. Each one is worth designing an entire itinerary around.

1) A private Riva speedboat charter down the Amalfi Coast. A restored 1960s Aquarama, your own captain, a chilled bottle of Franciacorta, Positano to Nerano and back, lunch at Lo Scoglio. Roughly €2,800 for the day. Non-negotiable if you go to Amalfi.

2) A helicopter breakfast on a Swiss glacier. Fly from Zermatt at 6am, land at 3,000m on a cleared plateau, croissants and champagne served on a folding table by your pilot. Book the Air Zermatt clear-weather slot — better odds in June or September.

3) A dinner for two on a Maldivian sandbank. Anantara or Soneva Jani will arrange it: a boat drops you on a virgin sandbank at sunset, a torch-lit table for two, a chef, a sommelier, the ocean at every horizon. Roughly $1,200. No comparison anywhere on earth.

4) A vow-renewal ceremony at Villa Cimbrone's Terrace of Infinity, Ravello. Sunset over the Tyrrhenian Sea, a celebrant, a violinist, a photographer, forty-five minutes that will define how you remember your marriage.

5) A Balinese Melukat blessing at Tirta Empul. A private priest, a private early-morning session before the crowds, sarongs and offerings arranged for you, a genuine spiritual beginning to your marriage. Rare, quiet, transformative.

6) A doors-off helicopter over Kauai's Nā Pali coast. 45 minutes, no doors, a private cameraman capturing you against the world's tallest sea cliffs. Book at 3pm for the softest light.

7) A crewed catamaran to St Pierre island, Seychelles. Depart Praslin, swim at Anse Lazio, meet giant tortoises at Curieuse, snorkel the granite drop-off at St Pierre. Prosecco on the return leg. Roughly €1,200 for the day.

8) A private beach barbecue on an unnamed Seychelles beach. Your boat crew drops you at sunrise on a beach with no name. Fresh red snapper on a driftwood fire. Hammocks between courses. You will not have Wi-Fi. You will not want it.

9) A sunrise paraglide over Interlaken. Tandem paraglide over Lake Thun with the Jungfrau on the horizon. Land in a Swiss meadow, breakfast on the Victoria-Jungfrau terrace. Photos sharp enough for the fireplace wall.

10) A private observatory session at Soneva Jani. The overwater residences here include access to the world's largest overwater observatory. A private astronomer, the Milky Way, a bottle of wine, no light pollution for a hundred nautical miles.

11) A cliffside dinner at Rock Bar, Ayana Bali. The bar is famous. The private table on the adjacent rock — five metres away, invisible to the rest — is not. A five-course tasting by a personal chef, the Indian Ocean crashing beneath you. Roughly $650 for two.

12) A honeymoon photographer, for one half-day, in whichever destination you love most. The single best honeymoon investment we recommend. Not staged, not directed — a photographer who follows you for three hours, capturing the way you look at each other when you forget the camera is there. Ten years from now, these will be the photographs that make you cry.

One final rule: pick three. Never twelve. The point of a honeymoon is not to accumulate experiences. It is to accumulate one or two moments so private, so uniquely yours, that no other couple has done them the same way. That is what we quietly build every itinerary around — and it is why couples send us their friends.
