Dubai gets filed under 'malls and Burj Khalifa' in most family brochures. The families we send there for a second time know better — the city has become one of the best child-friendly destinations in the region, as long as you plan around the heat.
Day 1 is KidZania at Dubai Mall. Two hours in the morning, lunch at the food court, then the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. The 48m viewing tunnel is genuinely breathtaking, and your kids will talk about the sand tiger sharks for years. Evening: fountain show at 6pm and 6:30pm.
Day 2 is Aquaventure Waterpark at Atlantis. Arrive at 10am when it opens, lunch at Shark Bites by the lazy river, leave by 4pm before the sunburn sets in. Dinner back at the hotel is ideal; do not plan anything else for this day.
Day 3, cool-weather day. Miracle Garden in winter (closed May–September), Global Village in the evening, and a desert safari with kid-friendly operators (Platinum Heritage does a private 'bedouin camp' experience without the quad bikes). End with a gentle camel ride at sunset.
What we tell parents: book hotels with pools and kids' clubs — Atlantis or the Palm Jumeirah Hilton — because afternoons (2–5pm) are too hot for anything else. Use that window for naps, board games, and hotel buffet breakfasts that have been known to feed children for the whole day.
